Alright. I thought it'd be fair to show you guys some of what I've been up to...You'll just have to forgive me for looking like something the cat dragged in.
Here we have our Rangiku, with her augmented..."talent."
This was done using a foam play ball, cut in half, and taped in position, squishing her natural assets into some very convincing cleavage, which she normally does not have, considering her natural chest size, though they've been growing lately.
Another photo of our dear Rangiky, this time after a bit more sewing...We'd fitted her top on her, and she just hadn't bothered to remove her new assets, since they were so handy while sewing.
Note the collection of pins stuck into said "assets." They really were handy!

Here, I have our Ichigo covered in wax paper, patterning out his coat.
He kept complaining that it was like a giant condom and that it was hot, in addition to how much his arms were hurting because I kept having him hold them up so I could pin the sleeves.
Even with the complaining, he's a hoot. An extremely funny guy, and much taller than me...Though not as much taller as the picture shows, obviously, because I am kneling down.
At the edge of the photo, you can see Rei, who will be portraying our Nanao-chan.
She's so pretty! I wish I looked more like her.

Here is our Zangetsu, being patterned for his coat.
He does not know the meaning of the word "candid," sadly. He thinks he must pose for every picture he's in. Rawr!
Note my cunning use of shears and pinning to make the pattern!

Here is our Renji, who will be binding and crossplaying the part.
Currently, I think she's trying to thread a needle for handsewing, or something to that effect.
Note the cardboard tubes that our fabric was wrapped around, and the piles of fabric on the bed.
Here is our Unohana, meticulously pressing the pleats into a pair of hakama.
Note the spray-starch, for extra crispness, and the stupid clock above her, that chimed with birdsong on every hour, before we got fed up and just took the batteries out of it.
Here is Ichigo, again, getting the lining of his coat fitted to him.
You don't really get a good show of the height difference here, because of perspective.
Note all the fabric laying around EVERYWHERE.
We had two HUGE garbage bags full of scraps.
I estimate that we had about 225 yards of fabric laying around at any given time.
That is a LOT of fabric, let me tell you.
More fitting of Ichigo, this time making sure the outer layer and the lining line up perfectly.
He would NOT stop cracking jokes, the whole time he was there. That's a good thing, though, because laughter was much-needed medicine from all the stress of sewing.
.....Looking at this picture, I am motivated to go do lots and lots of crunches. *hates her belly*
Ph33r the small ones.
Here you can see the height difference between Ichigo and Orihime.
This picture was posed, because the candid version came out like crap...But I really did threaten to stab him with my shears, I assure you, because he would not stand still.
This is Rei, again, our Nanao-chan.
She's so gorgeous, especially with the AC Tifa haircut I gave her, even if she is exhausted from work.
Here, she's waiting for her pleats to be pinned, so they can be pressed. I think this was actually the first day of sewing.
Our Gin and Shunsui showed up so we could pin the things on them. ^_^
Shunsui getting pinned by our Kiyone while Fish and our Aizen watch from the couch. I'm pinning the back of Gin, who is out of the picture.
Our Gin, minus sleeves and captain's haori.
And footwear, of course, which we haven't even started on.
Sean makes the best Gin ever, don't you think?
From left to right, we have Ichigo, Rangiku sans augmentation, Renji, Hinamori, Nanao, Kiyone, and Sado (Chad...who doesn't actually wear hakama, so I don't know who's pair he's wearing, or why...)
Sado making dinner for us, whilst being amused by our Ukitake and Kiyone.
Our Chad and Kiyone are going out! Isn't that so cute! *giggles* They make the most precious couple.
And...that's how a costume is made...kinda....sorta...*yawns*
We're leaving for the lakehouse tonight around 8-9 pm, and I fully intend to have a weekend of fun in the sun. I'm all packed up, with copious amounts of sunscreen to prevent me from burning. I'm also borrowing Rei's Princess Diary books, of which I'm on Volume 4 1/2 after only two and half days of reading. They're kind of cute, and nothing like the movies.
Rei picked up Bookdock Saints and Snatch, for us to watch while we're their, and Robby's going to have his PS2, so I'll bring a few games. Sadly, Ame totally forgot to return my Godzilla: Final Wars, which Rei really wants to see, so I'll probably just bring a couple of other movies, like Galaxy Quest, and some anime, or something. I dunno. I need to go look at my shelf and see what's worth bringing.
Also need to remember the poker set I got for christmas, and see if I can find the Star Wars Trivial Pursuit. Gawd, we're a bunch of dorks. *chuckles* |
